Area record

Senedd records that name a place the gazetteer puts in Caerdydd Penarth, whoever spoke. Welsh Government’s words are included as the Senedd records them. Listed newest first, never totalled.

Counted by Siambr: places assigned through the ONS Index of Place Names in Great Britain (July 2024) and ONS Output Area lookups. A place name is matched as the gazetteer prints it, case and all. It is placed in a 2026 constituency through the ONS Output Area lookups for the gazetteer's ward, community, built-up area or local authority code. A name the gazetteer gives more than one place, or a place spanning constituencies, is listed as ambiguous, as is a name the Record also prints in lower case or as part of a person's name.

Diolch. Here in Cymru, we had a proud tradition of peace activism. Many of us can trace our family history back to a woman who signed the Welsh women's peace petition. St Fagans held a powerful exhibition tracing that journey from the women who organised for peace in the aftermath of the first world war to the women of Greenham Common who sacrificed so much in their campaign against nuclear weapons. Once again, we find ourselves living through turbulent times with devastating conflicts unfolding across the world. And, of course, there remains a pragmatic need for defence, and we must engage honestly with that reality.

Well, thank you for those points, and the answer I would give is that that's exactly the work we are doing, so that you have transparency, that I'm held to account, but also, hopefully, we see progress in these areas. Let me be clear: we have not held this portfolio for 15 years. Alun Ffred Jones was there. We saw investment, which led to St Fagans becoming Art Fund Museum of the Year, and a number of important initiatives that supported local museums, local libraries and archives. So, let's be very clear here: we share the frustrations that many Members will have about the lack of progress and the cuts that were made.

Ambiguous place names

These names could mean a place in Caerdydd Penarth or somewhere else. Siambr does not choose: each name lists every place the gazetteer gives for it.
