Area record

Senedd records that name a place the gazetteer puts in Clwyd, whoever spoke. Welsh Government’s words are included as the Senedd records them. Listed newest first, never totalled.

Counted by Siambr: places assigned through the ONS Index of Place Names in Great Britain (July 2024) and ONS Output Area lookups. A place name is matched as the gazetteer prints it, case and all. It is placed in a 2026 constituency through the ONS Output Area lookups for the gazetteer's ward, community, built-up area or local authority code. A name the gazetteer gives more than one place, or a place spanning constituencies, is listed as ambiguous, as is a name the Record also prints in lower case or as part of a person's name.

    …

A couple of weeks ago, I visited St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph where I had an unexpected conversation with a resident named Mel. Mel was sitting outside enjoying his morning coffee. It was an ordinary, everyday moment, yet in many ways it represented everything that hospice care should be about: enabling people to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, retain their independence and experience moments of normality, even when facing the most difficult of circumstances. Mel spoke passionately about the compassion and care shown to him by the hospice staff and volunteers. He described how the people supporting him took time to understand his needs and tailor their care accordingly. This is what makes hospice care so special. It recognises that every patient is an individual with their own needs, wishes, fears and hopes. When a patient enters, they are defined by who they are and not what condition or illness they have. Every member of staff and every volunteer I encountered at St Kentigern's demonstrated a genuine commitment to providing comfort, compassion and dignity. It was clear that, to them, this wasn't a job, it was a vocation. Sadly, Mel passed away soon after our meeting, but I'm grateful to be able to say that his death was peaceful and dignified and that he was surrounded by love. The support provided by the hospice to Mel and his family played an important part in making that possible.

I am aware of NWFRS’s aspiration to build a new training centre at St Asaph, and I and my officials will have further discussions with NWFRS about that in due course.

Mae yna broblemau eraill y mae'n werth sôn amdanyn nhw hefyd pan fo rhywun yn edrych ar Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. Pan wnes i ymweliad rhyw fis yn ôl efo Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, mi wnaeth un o'r swyddogion sôn am ystadegyn a ddaeth fel braw i mi. Roedd yn eithaf brawychus. Wyddoch chi, os wnewch chi ystyried maint ysbyty Glan Clwyd o gymharu efo maint Ysbyty Athrofaol Cymru—maint ardal Rhyl, Bodelwyddan a Phrestatyn o'i gymharu efo Caerdydd—mae yna wahaniaeth sylweddol, ond mae'r un faint o ymweliadau ambiwlans yn mynd i Ysbyty Glan Clwyd yn ddyddiol a beth sydd yn mynd i ysbyty’r Heath yng Nghaerdydd. Felly, mae yna broblem yn fanna. Pam mae gyda ni'r niferoedd yna o bobl yn dod i mewn? Mae'n codi cwestiwn am wendidau sylweddol a sylfaenol ein gofal cynradd a sut fedrwn ni fynd i'r afael â hynny. Dyna pam ein bod ni yn edrych i gefnogi a chryfhau gofal cynradd. Ac mae'n gofyn cwestiynau am sut y mae pobl yn dod allan o'r ysbyty yn ddiogel, hynny ydy y flow yna drwy'r ysbyty.

    …

Secondly, can I ask for clarity on the arrangements for notifying Members of this Senedd when ministerial visits take place in their constituencies? It was great to see the new Cabinet Minister for Health and Care taking the opportunity to visit Glan Clwyd Hospital, one of the worst-performing hospitals in the whole of the United Kingdom, in Bodelwyddan in my constituency of Clwyd, but I was very disappointed that no notification was received by me or other Members of the Senedd for Clwyd. I think that that is something that we need to resolve in the future, because it is a matter of courtesy for all Members.

Ambiguous place names

These names could mean a place in Clwyd or somewhere else. Siambr does not choose: each name lists every place the gazetteer gives for it.
